Family
My name is Nancy Pechar and I am the second grade teacher at Bertha Barber Elementary School. I was born and raised in Bellevue, Nebraska and am the oldest of three children. My brother, Andy is an environmental biologist and lives nearby in Omaha with his family. His wife, Tammi, is an accountant and works for Marriott. They have three kids: Julia, Aidan, and Sienna. My sister, Megan, is a nurse at Creighton Hospital. She and her husband, Jay, have two kids: Gisele, and Giovanni. My parents are semi-retired and live in Bellevue as well. I love spending time with my family!
My husband Jeff worked for the Omaha Fire Department for 22 years. He was Battalion Fire Chief and recently retired. We have three children. Madelyn is a senior at Gross Catholic High School. She is a great student, is a varsity cheerleader, and plays soccer as well. Jordan is a sophomore at Gross Catholic as well. He is a successful student and plays football, basketball, and baseball. Grace, our youngest, is in 7th grade at St. Bernadette as well. She follows in her sibling's footsteps in academics and has learned a lot from them about sports. She plays basketball, and softball. Family activities keep us busy and provide us with lots of entertainment!
School
I attended grade school at Sts. Peter and Paul in Omaha and then high school at Gross Catholic. After high school I completed my education degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. After teaching second grade for six years at St. Thomas More, Madelyn was born and I decided to stay home to be with our children in the early years. I started a daycare at home and continued that for six years. When Grace was about three, I returned to the work force and taught fourth grade at St. Bernadette. I then moved to Bellevue Public Schools at Bertha Barber where I taught a year of fourth grade followed by a year of third grade before moving back to my favorite grade to teach! I completed my Master's Degree plus an additional 36 hours from Doane College.
